It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Dr. Sadiq Mohyuddin, a long-time and dedicated member of the World Affairs Council of St. Louis, a respected physician, and a beloved community leader. Dr. Mohyuddin peacefully passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 85. His contributions to the Council, as well as to his local community in Alton/Godfrey, IL, and underserved areas around the world, will be deeply missed.

Dr. Mohyuddin was a lasting member of the World Affairs Council and served as a chairman and board member. His involvement in global issues and his unwavering dedication to the betterment of society through both his profession and philanthropy made him a cherished member of our community.

Born in Gurdaspur (Punjab) India on April 15, 1939, and educated at King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Mohyuddin’s journey took him from the UK to the United States, where he completed his medical training and began a successful career. For nearly 50 years, he served as a compassionate physician in Alton/Godfrey, IL, always putting his patients first and extending his care beyond the office.

Dr. Mohyuddin’s influence went far beyond medicine. He was a founding member of the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis (IFGSTL), a founding member of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA), and contributed significantly to civic and charitable causes locally and internationally. His impact was felt in his leadership roles and through his charitable endeavors, including the Mohyuddin Pulmonary Lab at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital and the Mohyuddin Charitable Clinic in Lahore, Pakistan, which continues to serve hundreds of patients daily at no cost.

Dr. Mohyuddin is survived by his wife Talat, children Dr. Yusuf Mohyuddin, Fatima Mohyuddin, and Dr. Nadia Mohyuddin, and his five granddaughters, along with his extended family. His kindness, generosity, and legacy of service will remain an enduring part of their memories and his legacy.

The World Affairs Council community joins in mourning the loss of Dr. Mohyuddin, whose contributions both to global affairs and his local community were immeasurable. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Sadaqa Fund of the IFGSTL.

A service in his honor took place on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Bellerive Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Mohyuddin’s legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire us all.
